Construction
This still life can be constructed with 4 gliders.[1][2] A number of known alternate syntheses can be found in Mark Niemiec's database.[3] A 5-glider synthesis was found in April 2015.[4] A 4-glider synthesis was found in June 2015.[5]

Occurrence
Crinkly heptomino with hooked tail is the 119th most common still life on Adam P. Goucher's Catagolue, being less common than paperclip with tail but more common than beehive bridge bun. Among all still lifes with 13 cells, it is the 8th most common, being less common than boat with hooked nine but more common than beehive bridge bun.[6] The octo3obj database contains one collision[7] with crinkly heptomino with hooked tail in the final pattern.
