Electric fence is a stabilization of ants and therefore an extensible period-5 oscillator .[1] It was found by Dean Hickerson in February 1993 .
Its cell count is generalized by the expression 173 + 8n, where n is the number of ants between the two stabilizing sides (n = 3 for the example image shown to the right). Its heat is 48.8 + 8n, and its volatility is (149 + 8n)/(268 + 8n).
