Hive five is a reaction where an instant V spark hits a pair of beehives, which reform transparently. Paul Callahan originally discovered the reaction on December 24, 1998.

Periods with known compatible sparkers are 32,[1] 41,[2] 46, 64, 72, 73, 84,[3] and 126.[4] Herschel factory-based loop oscillators can be constructed for any period 63 and above,[5] that generate a V spark capable of supporting the hive five reaction.

The hive five reaction creates a spark capable of supporting the bumper reaction,[2] enabling engineered bumpers for periods 63 and above.
