Inflection is a piece of still life-related terminology used to refer to a set of somewhat-related still life modifications:

  • the attachment of a feather to a supporting region of the still life
  • the replacement of a curl motif with a more feather-like shape

On this wiki, the second definition is what the term is used for, as to prevent confusion. (Cases of the former are usually named "[base still life] with feather"; e.g. snake with feather, carrier with feather, eater with feather.)
