Kok's galaxy is a period 8 oscillator found by Jan Kok in 1971. It is notable for its uses as a sparker, and can be seen acting as one in converter 1. In September 2003 Jason Summers found a 12-glider synthesis of this oscillator.[1]
Kok's galaxy serves as the logo of Golly.
