Metamorphosis II is a period-60 oscillator built by Robert Wainwright on December 13, 1994 based on a period 30 glider-to-LWSS converter using a queen bee shuttle pair and LWSS-LWSS bounce. This converter was first found by Paul Rendell, January 1986 or earlier, but wasn't widely known about until Paul Callahan rediscovered it on December 9, 1994.[1] GUYTU6J found a 43-glider synthesis for this oscillator on May 11, 2020,[2] and reduced it to 41 gliders on August 3, 2021.[3]
It can be extended, providing a 150-cell oscillator of all periods of the form 60 + 360*n.
