Middleweight emulator
Revision as of 17:35, 3 April 2023 by DroneBetter (talk | contribs) (Add higher-clearance variant and p4-assisted period-28 glider gun variant using it (perhaps the gun is redundant or misplaced (or doesn't belong here at all, being suboptimal), it can be removed if you would like))

Middleweight emulator is a period-4 oscillator found by Robert Wainwright in June 1980.[1] It is one of the three standard emulators and produces sparks similar to those of the middleweight spaceship. It is often used in the construction of larger oscillators, such as 145P20.
A four-fold version of this oscillator appeared semi-naturally in April 2016.[2]
Variants
A larger but higher-clearance mechanism is known, that has been used as a catalyst in CatForce searches by Carson Cheng and Mitchell Riley, the latter of whom found a variant of the p4-assisted period-28 glider gun using two copies of it.
