B2i3/S23 (proposed name "HoneyBomb Life") is an isotropic non-totalistic cellular automaton in which a cell survives from one generation to the next if it has 2 or 3 neighbours, and is born if it has 2 opposite adjacent or 3 neighbours. It was named because honeyfarm predecessors evolve into a p20 oscillator in this rule.

Patterns

Some patterns from regular Life are compatible with this rule except most spaceships excluding 70P2H1V0.1. Honey farm constellations exist in the rule, but common predecessors from Life evolve into the p20 "honeybomb" shown below:

x = 4, y = 3, rule = B2i3/S23 b2o$o2bo$b3o! #C [[ THUMBSIZE 2 THEME 6 GRID GRIDMAJOR 0 SUPPRESS THUMBLAUNCH ]] #C [[ THUMBSIZE 2 ZOOM 12 Y 1 GPS 10 PAUSE 2 AUTOSTART LOOP 160 ]]

Even though that B2i3/S23 only differs to Life of only 1 transition, most large soups tend to explode. The most common exploding pattern is shown below:

x = 4, y = 3, rule = B2i3/S23 bo$b2o$o2bo$b3o! #C [[ THUMBSIZE 2 THEME 6 GRID GRIDMAJOR 0 SUPPRESS THUMBLAUNCH ]] #C [[ THUMBSIZE 2 ZOOM 30 STEP 3 T 0 PAUSE 2 T 100 ZOOM 5 T 1000 ZOOM 1 T 2000 STEP 6 AUTOSTART LOOP 10000 ]]
