The octapole is the barberpole of length 8. It, alongside 14P2.12, is one of two periodic 14-bit objects which are yet to show up on Catagolue in an asymmetric soup.

Synthesis

Goldtiger997 found a 12-glider synthesis based on a symmetric sample soup from Adam P. Goucher's Catagolue on April 22, 2017.[1]
