P44 traffic jam is a period-44 traffic jam oscillator discovered by Matthias Merzenich on April 9, 2010 based on a 19-generation traffic light push by Noam Elkies. The original form of the pattern features a large period 4 oscillator based on blocked p4-3, with one shoulder less intrusive. A smaller p4 was found by Merzenich on October 18, 2021.[1]
The base reaction gives off strong dot and obo sparks. On October 26, 2021, David Raucci found an R-pentomino hassler using a higher-clearance version of the oscillator.[2]
