dani discovered that two of these oscillators could be combined to create a gliderlesslightweight spaceshipgun. An LWSS-to-G converter has just enough recovery time to turn the LWSS into a glider, resulting in the smallest known period-58 glider gun, as shown below.[2] This is believed to be the first instance of a known xWSS gun having a smaller bounding box than the glider gun of the same period.[3][note 1] A direct glider gun construction has yet to be found.
This oscillator's 16-glidersynthesis is extremely trivial: each component (two blocks, four eaters, two pi-heptominoes) can be constructed using its standard two-glider recipe without any conflicts.[5]
