p61 Herschel loop 2 is a period-61 Herschel loop oscillator found by Paul Callahan in February 1997, improving on David Buckingham's original p61 Herschel loop 1. It was the smallest oscillator of this period until the discovery of the Snark, and the smallest Herschel loop until the appearance of HRx65R.[1]
It contains 40 Herschels travelling in a closed track composed of four copies of L112, six copies of Fx77 and ten copies of Fx153. It is an emu that makes heavy use of tub-with-tail eater to suppress all first natural gliders.
