Period-117 glider gun is a true period 117 gun discovered by David Raucci on July 6, 2021.[1] The gun uses a reaction similar to AK-94 where a honey farm hitting a fishhook produces a glider, but unlike AK-94, the period-117 gun uses two interacting copies instead of being a shuttle. The gun was initially found using 48P9s as sparkers, and then reduced with regard to bounding box by Tanner Jacobi using 66P13s,[2] and then by Matthias Merzenich using 50P9s the same day. [3] At the time of its discovery, it was the smallest known odd-period gun by bounding box; its bounding box is 42×29=1218 cells, beating the previous record of 55×34=1870 cells for the period-33 glider gun,[4] but it has since been superseded by the period-21 glider gun.
