A period-144 glider gun is a glider gun with true period 144. The first such gun, gunstar, was found by David Buckingham in 1990. A much smaller gun, new gun 2, was found by Bill Gosper in July 1994 (see factory for a full description and pattern). Reductions were made by Michael Simkin in July 2016[1] and by iNoMed in October 2021[2]. The current smallest, shown at right, was assembled by iNoMed in November 2021[3] using the same catalyst as in the p28 glider gun and has a bounding box of only 43×21, making it one of the most compact known glider guns.[4]
