A period-144 glider gun is a glider gun with true period 144. The first one, new gun 2, was found by Bill Gosper in July 1994. See factory for a full description and pattern. The former smallest p144 gun, assembled by Chris Cain in 2016, uses the same base p72 oscillator, but the spark that extracts the glider is provided by Rich's p16.[1] In October 2021, iNoMed found an even smaller version, with a 36×31 bounding box, using a new variant of Achim's p144.[2] The current smallest, shown to the right, was assembled by iNoMed in November 2021[3] using the same catalyst found in the period-28 glider gun and has a bounding box of only 43×21, making it one of the most compact known glider guns.[4]
