The underlying interaction was found by Matthias Merzenich the previous day. The large sparker is necessary to suppress a spark of one of the copies of 92P33.1 that would interact with the produced glider to destroy the gun. Matthias Merzenich then reduced the gun by using Arie Paap's new reduced sparker. It is the first known true period 33 gun and the smallest odd true period known for a gun.
