Period-45 glider gun is a true period 45 gun discovered by Matthias Merzenich in 2010, with improvements by Adam P. Goucher and Dave Greene.[1] It consists of an object hassled by pentadecathlons.
A further improvement by Tanner Jacobi in 2015, replacing three of the pentadecathlons with custom still-lifes, is given on the right.[2] Using the glider-producing pentadecathlon reaction, the p45 gun can be 4-barrelled.
Glider syntheses for the one-barrelled and four-barrelled versions of the original gun (costing 46 and 40 gliders respectively) were posted by Jeremy Tan on January 5, 2020, in response to a less efficient synthesis by Entity Valkyrie using a different method.[3]
