Sawtooth 262 is a diagonal sawtooth that was discovered by David Bell on July 9, 2005. It is currently the smallest sawtooth in the sense that its minimum repeating population of 262 is the least of any known sawtooth.
The original form of this sawtooth used a slightly larger Cordership at its top-left, and two figure eights instead of a figure eight, eater 1, boat and block for glider deletion. It had a minimum repeating population of 269.
The number of alive cells plotted versus the number of elapsed generations roughly forms an ever-increasing sawtooth graph.
