Self-synthesizing

MOS is an acronym for Made Of Spaceships. The acronym is rarely used in isolation, and is often combined with another letter representing another pattern class:

• SMOS: Spaceship made of spaceships
  • SMOSMOS: Spaceship made of spaceships made of spaceships
• OMOS: Oscillator made of spaceships
• RMOS: Replicator made of spaceships

While this term may appear to refer to glider syntheses and other rule equivalents, there is the requirement that the object in question has the constituent spaceships reappear in the evolution sequence.
