Siamese is a term used in naming certain still lifes (and the stator of certain oscillators). It indicates that the object consists of two smaller objects joined in such a way that they share two or more cells. (Still lifes sharing a single live cell are not possible: any shared live cell needs to have at least 2 neighbors for stability, which implies 4 or more neighbors in the combined still life -- unless at least one of the cell's neighbors is also shared.) Examples include carrier siamese carrier, broken snake, snake siamese snake, barge siamese loaf and elevener.
