Highlife oddity
The B-heptomino is one of few patterns to take longer to stabilize in HighLife. With a lifetime of 228 generations, it beats the R-pentomino(dies out in 9 generations) and the Pi heptomino(stabilizes in 102 generations). How does HighLife make this unique heptomino live longer? And how does HighLife make this pattern end up with a higher population(29 vs.28) than in Life without emitting a glider at all? -wwei23 9:58 PM 9/23/2015 NY time
"Failed spaceship"
"It is considered a failed spaceship, but can be used to make a puffer 2."
What is a failed spaceship, and who specifically considers the B-heptomino to be one? Apple Bottom (talk) 21:29, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
