Complexity and structure

I have heard that Caterpillar is made out of pi heptominos and that Golly can barely cope with Caterpillar. I have accidentally crashed Golly twice and would like to know if the pi heptomino part and Golly barely being able to cope with Caterpillar are true or not. -wwei23

Yes. I've tried to run the Caterpillar myself, and it proceeds at less than a generation per second on my machine. With modern Life technology, it's definitely possible to make a smaller 17c/45 spaceship that could run at a decent clip, but that hasn't been a priority. Kazyan (talk) 07:29, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
