Cell numbers again

Generation 9 (starting from current version) seems to have 42 cells if I counted correctly. Ones with the mouth probably have the most cells anyway. Although I don't feel like fixing it just now, not least since that involves a lot of counting to double-check. Elithrion 00:34, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, there are a few generations with 42 cells, so the same thing could be done here that was done at figure eight. Also, you don't have to count the cells manually - just click on the "Manipulate via java" thing and it will show you the number of cells in the top-right of the screen (except for the first generation it seems, which is a glitch). Oh, true. I really wasn't paying attention there. And I'll do it in a bit, I guess, since I seem to be finished adding animated pictures for all common oscillators (not going to proceed to uncommon ones, though, they're almost universally messier and in less of a list). Also, not so much for the first generation, as for right after loading. If you go to next and then back, it becomes all better. Elithrion 00:51, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
And also, choosing smallest dimensions seems like a good secondary criterion, so that's what I went with. Elithrion 01:00, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah that seems like a good idea. I actually plan on adding a "bounding box" tag to the pattern info box template at some point to make the information more complete (and a Moore neighbourhood tag as well, but that's less pressing). Nathaniel 01:18, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

We may want to consider renaming this...

Yeah, it kind of might sound a bit...preachy, but this oscillator is named after a guy who used blackface. So it might be best if going on we change the name so that nobody accidentally finds this and gets offensive. Here's a picture for what it was named for: [1]
