Final population
How about a column for the final population (as a way to look up a sequence, when someone does not yet know much about it)? Confocal (talk) 11:08, 12 March 2023 (UTC)
- Final population and census would be great additions, would make searching a lot easier. --Galoomba (talk) 00:07, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
Error?
The second paragraph says the sequences have to "stay above 12 for at least four generations with different population", but by that criterion, some of the "common enough but not large enough" sequences would qualify. Is the 12 meant to be a 20 or something? --Galoomba (talk) 20:39, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
- It looks like the bakery qualifies (I'm not sure why it's not in the census), but the rest don't. Here's how it works, more detailed:
- If it hasn't started yet, and it's 20 or more, start counting, including this generation itself.
- If it's started, and it's below 12, stop counting and reset.
- If it's started, and it's 12 or more, and the number hasn't appeared yet, add one.
- If it's started, and it's 12 or more, and the number is already in the list of populations, do nothing.
- You need 4 or more for it to qualify. Falling below 12 cells after it qualifies won't disqualify it.

Canonical pattern
What determines the pattern shown for each sequence? It doesn't seem to be the smallest or longest-living predecessor. Is it some other criterion or is it arbitrary? --Galoomba (talk) 19:58, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
