## "Proper" (x,y)c/p format

I think speeds for etc. Waterbear and other should not be listed as nc/p or such, but with the proper (x,y)c/p format. Why? By the same metric that Waterbear is 28c/79, glider is c/2 (as it is (1,1)c/4), but everyone would agree that claim is utterly ridiculous. Glider is c/4, so Waterbear is not 28c/79. It is (23,5)c/79. --Sphenocorona (talk) 19:33, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

- If this is truly about speed, then it should be discussed at speed, which defines it in this allegedly "improper" way. But it seems Sphenocorona feels this table should list not just simply the speed, but the speed and the direction. The
*proper*term for that, at least in real life, is "velocity". Do CA enthusiasts conflate the two terms? ( Micromegas (talk) 09:44, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

- A related conversation at Talk:Direction#Difference from "slope" made me realize that "(x,y)c/p" has one more degree of liberty than velocity, so that real life term does not apply directly to the CA world. Still (or even more so), it's not the same as speed. Micromegas (talk) 10:35, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

## New camelship

Now that Chris Cain has constructed a new camelship speed, we should add that to the table. Does anyone know if it has an actual name? Ian07 (talk) 20:51, 10 December 2018 (UTC)

- There isn't anything besides "camelship" that I know of. That's pretty unambiguous, though, since "Gemini 3" already has its own name. The new camelship is probably the first in a series of "small-step zooships", where unlike the Gemini variants the offsets will actually match the step sizes of the menagerie of animal-named fairy chess pieces, instead of being a big multiple of those step sizes. ## Missing spaceships

There are an awful lot of Demonoids and Orthogonoids missing from this table, along with some recently constructed Caterloopillars and at least one trivial Gemini variant that I can think of. I guess I can work on that slowly over time. It also seems worth including links to make it possible to find these ships easily. Dvgrn (talk) 11:58, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
