Talk:Obo! spark
Exclamation mark
Why "obo!" and not "obo"? I haven't seen anyone use an exclamation mark in the name, and the Life Lexicon doesn't have it either. --Galoomba (talk) 22:30, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- The name is the headerless RLE of the pattern. Unnamed small patterns are also often referred to in the same way; e.g. o$obo$3o$2bo! would refer to a particular orientation of Herschel. I can find both variants on the forum. See p91933, p72600 for examples. Confocal (talk) 23:01, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- The two linked posts give examples of headerless RLEs. The name of the obo! spark is an example of a headerless RLE. Forum search gives more examples for either of two variants. For instance
This post: "... there are 54 "vanish collisions" in the 3g database that have a final obo$obo! spark, but only three collisions that end with a final o2bo$o2bo!"
This post: "..., and reacting with a pi and an obo! spark parent; ..."
