- October 30: Luke Kiernan discovers p73 lumps of muck hassler, the smallest known period-73 oscillator.
- October 24: Mitchell Riley discovers a smaller period-32 glider gun using a new twin bees hassler.
- October 21: Simon Ekström discovers NW-2T16, a new Herschel-to-glider converter which can also be used to create the smallest known oscillators of periods 89, 97, 101, and 103.
- October 20: New user gravity discovers a puffer-based methuselah within a 20 × 20 bounding box lasting 13,629,876 generations.
- October 8: Charity Engine discovers 34P20, the smallest known non-LCM-based period-20 oscillator. It is also the first known period-20 oscillator with volatility 1, although it is not strictly volatile.

- October 3: cvojan and iNoMed discover a period-40 glider gun with a 27×20 bounding box - the fourth smallest of a glider gun with a unique period.
