Template:Year/Doc

This template can be used to quickly and easily embed a link to the category of patterns found in a given year. For example,

The frobnozzle is a pattern found in {{year|1991}}.

becomes

The frobnozzle is a pattern found in 1991.

(This is much more convenient than having to type the equivalent of

The frobnozzle is a pattern found in [[:Category:Patterns found in 1991|1991]].

everytime you want to link to a year-based pattern category.)

The template takes a single parameter, which can be passed without a name or as year=.
