Trans-tub with long4 tail is a 12-cell still life.

Construction

This still life is known to be constructible with 5 gliders.[1] A 6-glider synthesis was found in September 2022.[2] A 5-glider synthesis was found in May 2023.[3] Some known glider syntheses can be found in Mark Niemiec's database.[4]

Occurrence

See also: List of common still lifes

Among the 121 still lifes with 12 cells, this is the 91st most common still life according to Catagolue.

There are no collisions in octohash, octo3obj or octo3g databases with this still life occurring in the ash.

Isomers

This still life is comprised of the normally stable tub with a normally unstable long4 tail attached. While it technically has no isomers, it is named trans due to the corner part of the tail being farther from the tub; the other "isomer", cis-tub with long4 tail, has this corner part slightly closer.
