There are lots of other ways to search for patterns other than software. Some people can find things by hand, these are the Professionals™. Assuming you are not as great as, say, Andrew J. Wade to the power of 3, you will probably have difficulty making magical enchanted patterns that turn gliders into copperheads in 30 ticks. (If you are, then why are you here and not making a 8 glider synthesis for the Spaghetti monster?)
