B-turner is an evolutionary sequence and a methuselah.

Evolution

B-turner initially grows upwards. From generation 7, it starts to grow downwards. This continues until generation 27, when a blinker is produced. The blinker survives until generation 60, where it's destroyed by the active region. A pi-heptomino emerges at generation 74, which evolves normally until generation 89, when it's turned into unnamed active region, then another pi, then a century. The century won't affect the rest of evolution. A glider, which is the only glider in the ash, emerges at generation 305. Afterwards, the rest of the active region hits a block then stabilize into 2 blocks at generation 384.

Final pattern

The final pattern that evolves from a lone B-turner consists of 12 blocks (3 from century), 5 blinkers (3 from 3/4 traffic light), 1 boat, 1 beehive and 1 tub.

"B-turner without its first blinker"

The generation 33 of B-turner without blinker is called "B-turner without its first blinker". It's still a methuselah, which stabilizes at generation 123 into 3 blocks, 1 tub and 1 beehive.

Unlike R-turner without its first blinker, it cannot be found in census.rle.

Use in conduits

Since the discovery of B-turner, it has been used as an input of some conduits. The first B-turner conduits turns B-turner into B-heptomino. Other conduits are known as well.
