The amount of stable G-to-G reflectors in StateInvestigator is so numerous that it would be tedious to give names to each of them. Therefore, it is better to go for systematic descriptions.

The descriptions are in the form [phase]-[lane]-[angle]:

  • For 90-degree reflectors, [phase] is the phase mod 4 relative to the canonical reflector. 0-degree and 180-degree reflectors can be compared to two copies of a canonical reflector.
  • For 90-degree reflectors, [lane] can be either CP or CC. For 0-degree and 180-degree reflectors, [lane] is the offset from the input glider's lane in hd.
  • [angle] is the angle that the reflector turns the glider by. It can be 0, 90, or 180.

If the reflector produces multiple gliders, the descriptions are separated with an underscore.

The non-overclocked repeat time can be added in parentheses at the end, though it is not necessary.

The two canonical reflectors are:

The mod-8 timing of the canonical CP reflector is made to match the Snark. The canonical CC reflector is actually identical to the canonical CP reflector, just with the input lane moved down by 1hd.
