VesselLife is a rule created by me on July 28, 2020. This was the first major rule that I created. The rulestring is B2n3-q5y6c/S23-k (normal style) or b2n3-q5y6cs23-k (catagolue style). Here's the thread.

Introduction

Other than the glider and *WSSs, there are some other basic gliders in this rule.

x=42, y = 6, rule = B2n3-q5y6c/S23-k 36bo3bo$2b3o13b2o9bo5b3ob3o$2b2o6bo8bobo6bobo6bobo$bob2o5b3o6bobo6bobo 6bobo$2o9bo8b2o5b2ob2o5bobo$2bo33b2ob2o!

.

From left to right, a "big glider", very common c/12 diagonal R pentomino ship, c/22 diagonal ship, c/3 hatship and 2c/6.

Relative object frequency (on Catagolue):

- The big glider is slightly rarer than the pulsar in life

- The R ship is about half as common as the glider in this rule

- The c/22 diagonal ship is slightly more common than the long boat in life

- The hatship is much rarer, between the frequencies of moose antlers and block on table in life

- The 2c/6 is the rarest of all, being slightly rarer than the glider-producing switch engine in life

Of course, we can't forget the vessel-stretchers, which give this rule its name. There are two common ones, one based on the glider and the other on the c/12 diagonal R ship.

x=23, y = 8, rule = B2n3-q5y6c/S23-k 4bo16b2o$4b2o14b2o$3bobo15bo$bo$obo$bo17b2o$18bobo$18b2o!

This leads to absurdly long vessels showing up naturally in soups - the largest one currently in C1 is a 158-cell (long^76) ship:

x=16, y = 16, rule = B2n3-q5y6c/S23-k boooooobbbbobobb$ obobbobbobobbbob$ ooooooobbbboboob$ obobobboobbbobob$ oobbbobboboboobo$ obobbbooobboobbb$ oobbobooboboboob$ bbobobbooooobobo$ boobboobbbobbbbb$ ooooobobbbbbbbbo$ booobboobbobooob$ bbbbobbbbbbbboob$ obobobbbboboobbo$ bbbbboobbboboooo$ obbooobboboooboo$ obooooobobobbbob!

More coming soon...
