: I've just made all of the links leading to RLE pages instead lead to &action=edit so that they're in a copyable form. A bit more awkward than I'd like, but that's the best solution I can think of. [[User:Ian07|Ian07]] ([[User talk:Ian07|talk]]) 20:06, 29 April 2019 (UTC)

Re: the apparent defective Caterloopillar RLE -- I reverted your addition of a Golly extended RLE comment -- "#CXRLE Pos=0,0" -- to the 31c/240 Caterloopillar RLE. You might have discovered this yourself after making the edit, but there wasn't anything actually wrong with the RLE before your edit, and so you didn't actually make any changes (except for that unnecessary #CXRLE line).

The problem with pages in the RLE namespace is that MediaWiki isn't set up to display RLE correctly. If you copy the contents of the article without going to the "edit" tab first, then the browser's default HTML rendering will make a mess of the spacing, and the pattern won't copy into Golly correctly. If you click "edit", on the other hand, you'll get a text box with the correct RLE in it, and you can select the entire contents of the text box and copy and paste it into Golly.

Maybe you can suggest a good place to add a warning about this MediaWiki limitation, so that other users don't get tripped up by it? Dvgrn (talk) 15:46, 29 April 2019 (UTC)
