112P57 is a period-57 oscillator. It is currently the smallest known oscillator of this period.

The engine was first found in a larger form shown below by Mitchell Riley on September 23, 2022. On May 18, 2023, iNoMed reduced the large period-3 oscillator to one with only 19 cells, making it the smallest known nontrivial period-57 oscillator by population.

The active region is an R-turner without its first blinker. Unusually, a lone ship works as a catalyst on this region.

On June 24, 2023, Chris857 found a 136-glider synthesis.[1][2] In July, 2023, the cost of a still life used in the construction was reduced, yielding a 134-glider synthesis,[3] and then another reduction that same month reduced the cost to 132 gliders.[4][5] On November 27, 2023, KtT reduced the cost to 130 gliders.[6][7] On January 14, 2024, Chris857 lowered the cost to 120 gliders.[8][9]
