54P23 is a period-23 oscillator and honey farm hassler discovered by Nico Brown on November 6, 2022.[1] It is the fifth unique period-23 oscillator to be discovered. With only 55 cells in its original minimum phase, it was the smallest known oscillator of its period,[2] surpassing 70P23 which was discovered just two days earlier.

On November 7, 2022, GUYTU6J found a 26-glider synthesis.[3] On December 13, 2023, Chris857 lowered the cost to 25 gliders.[4][5]

On March 3, 2024, Period1GliderGun reduced the population to 54 cells from the original 55,[6] by noticing that a blinker could replace the block catalyst. The blinker is rephased with each cycle.
