Discovered by Mitchell Riley
Year of discovery 2022

70P26 is a period-26 oscillator found by Mitchell Riley on September 23, 2022.[1] At its minimum population of 70 cells, it was the smallest known period-26 oscillator until the discovery of the 60-cell p26 honey farm hassler in April 2023. It consists of two blocks and two elevener+ship+eater 1 catalyst hassling two two-glider octominoes.

Chris857 and Carson Cheng found a 37-glider synthesis of this oscillator on the day of its discovery.[2] The synthesis was later reduced to 35 gliders with a cheaper ship+fishhook construction.[3][4] On September 7, 2023, Chris857 lowered the cost to 27 gliders with a cheaper synthesis of the octominoes.[5][6]
