p23 honey farm hassler is a period-23 oscillator found by James Pascua by hand on February 16, 2022.[1][2] It is the first known p23 oscillator to not be based on David Hilbert, and, with only 76 cells in its minimum phase, it was the smallest known oscillator with this period until the discovery of 70P23 in November 2022. Other p23 oscillators can be constructed that combine David Hilbert with the p23 honey farm hassler.[1]

On June 11, 2023, Chris857 and Extrementhusiast found a 45-glider synthesis for the canonical form of the oscillator, and a 44-glider synthesis for a variant using eater bridge eater.[3][4] Further reductions, including a cheaper fishhook inserter found by Carson Cheng using QuFince, lowered the cost to 41 gliders for the canonical form and 39 gliders for the eater bridge eater variant.[5][6][7] On November 30, 2023, Chris857 lowered the cost of the canonical version to 40 gliders and the eater bridge eater version to 37 gliders.[8][9]
