MWSS on MWSS 1 is a standard spaceship flotilla consisting of two middleweight spaceships reacting so as to remove their dot sparks.
It is the fifth smallest known spaceship, tied with the loafer, LWSS on MWSS 1, LWSS on HWSS 1, LWSS on HWSS 2 and MWSS on MWSS 2.

It is the most common spaceship flotilla on Catagolue, and fifth most common spaceship overall, being 356000 times less common than the heavyweight spaceship but 3.32 times more common than HWSS on HWSS 1.[1] The first known appearance of MWSS on MWSS 1 in an asymmetric soup was on September 29, 2014 by Dave Greene.[2]
Glider synthesis
Of all standard spaceship flotillae, including pseudo-spaceship cases, MWSS on MWSS 1 is particularly notable due to having the cheapest synthesis at 5 gliders; as of 14 March 2024, all other flotillae require at least six gliders for a synthesis.
The MWSS on MWSS 1 synthesis involves a 3-glider collision which produces a small mirror-symmetric object, which is then hit with two symmetrically-arranged gliders to immediately produce this spaceship.
