Merzenich's p64 (or 4 blocks hassling 2 beehives and 2 R-pentominos) is the smallest known period-64 oscillator, and was discovered by Matthias Merzenich on October 30, 2010.[1]
Two copies of this oscillator are seen in pre-pulsar shuttle 64, constructed by Merzenich with the help of Aidan F. Pierce on June 20, 2015.[2]
A 14-glider synthesis of this oscillator was found by Ian07 on August 9, 2019,[3] which was improved to 10 gliders by Goldtiger997 the next day.[4]
