Merzenich's p11 is a period-11 oscillator discovered by Matthias Merzenich In December, 2010. It uses a tub as a rock in a nonstandard way.

On October 17, 2021, May13 found a final step for a glider synthesis of this oscillator. On August 25, 2023, May13 posted a complete 206-glider synthesis using the same basic activation reaction implemented in a different way. The synthesis was reduced to 178 gliders the next day. KtT reduced the synthesis cost to 151 gliders on December 4, 2023, and again to 149 gliders on February 24, 2024. On March 1, 2024, Martin Grant substantially reduced the synthesis cost to only 79 gliders.
