p7 bumper is a periodic colour-preserving glider reflector with a minimum repeat time of 35 ticks . For an equivalent colour-changing periodic glider reflector see p7 bouncer . A stable Snark reflector can be substituted for any bumper . This changes the timing of the output glider , which can be useful for rephasing periodic glider streams .
38P7.2 can be replaced with 37P7.1 , allowing for a lower population but a larger bounding box . This variant was used in a 206-cell p49 bumper loop, the formerly smallest period-49 oscillator , which has now been superseded by a 188-cell glider shuttle with a new mechanism .
