Loading dock is a period-3 oscillator that was found by David Buckingham in September 1972.[1]
It has a stator variant with larger population but smaller bounding box, named six Ls due to consisting of six L-tetrominoes (tails), as shown below.

Synthesis
A 14-glider synthesis for loading dock and a 20-glider synthesis for six Ls were found by Jeremy Tan on March 29, 2019 based on soups submitted to Catagolue.[2] The latter was improved to 18 gliders by Mark Niemiec two days later.[3]
In December 2020, GUYTU6J found a 13-glider synthesis of a stator variant of this oscillator[4] based on a suggestion from gmc_nxtman dating to November 2015.[5]
