Superluminosity in LtL rules
A quick note: the statement about LtL rules is at odds with the definition of the speed of light given on the speed page ("the fastest possible speed at which any effect can propagate"). Using that definition, in LtL rules, c is a speed that's greater than one cell per tick (and the statement given here incorrect). That said, it's probably deeply ingrained in both people's minds and the notation we use that (e.g. to write down spaceship speeds) that "c" does in fact mean "one cell per tick", in which case the statement given here is correct.
I vaguely remember unpleasant heated discussions about which definition of the speed of light is proper that I don't want to revisit. But I would suggest that these two different concepts, namely the maximum speed at which effects can propagate, and the speed of one cell per tick, just so happen to coincide for Life and many other CAs, that they must be distinguished in general, and this should be clarified. I'll go and make the edit here; if there's disagreement, please edit and improve this page further. I'll not make changes to the speed page, someone else can do that.
