hi, Moderators. I believe WSL is easy to use than cygwin. And it is more convenient to 'install'. idk whether some of the lifewiki tutorial is obsolete. but at least it should clarify WSL is better alternative to cygwin (since win10 have occupied more than 50% market share)— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dylan Chen (talk • contribs)
- Hello, Dylan Chen! I'm recently reconsidering using apgsearch on my laptop and I'd like to refer to your guidance. Would you spare some time to write a step-by-step walkthrough for setting up WSL and apgsearch on Win10 from scratch? You can create a personal sandbox in your user namespace ("User:Dylan_Chen/Sandbox") and start drafting there; later that piece may be merged into this tutorial. See, maintenance work of tutorials is actually not resricted to moderators!

- Win10 occupying 50% of the market does not mean win7 is obselete especially in a geek community. Ultimium (talk) 05:19, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
- Okay, finally I stepped out and tried using apgsearch on WSL, which turned out to be indeed faster and simpler to install. After following the installation guide for WSL (I use Ubuntu), I need to call sudo apt-get update before getting the plugins. The command sudo apt-get install build-essential works fine for three of the four prerequisites (the last one is, you guessed it, python3). And then things begin to work! The only issue is that I cannot find the location of apgmera file downloaded from direct "git clone", possibly because of the way WSL operates as a WindowsApp. GUYTU6J (talk) 15:41, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
