Bi-block hassler

From LifeWiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

A bi-block hassler is a specific type of hassler where a bi-block is sparked in one location and then sparked again nine generations later. The second spark can be in one of two locations, but it must be a true dot spark; vertical dominoes and duoplets do not work.

Hasslers that increase the overall period are known for periods 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 24, 26, and 28. The minimum repeat time is 14. They emit pseudo T-nose sparks, often edgy, but they have poor fallback. There are no known period-22 bi-block hasslers because Jason's p22 doesn't emit a simple dot and rattlesnake gets destroyed, while periods 25 and 27 can't work because using p5 and p9 sparkers results in p15 and p18 hasslers respectively, not p25 and p27. The other numbers between 15 and 29 are prime and cannot have a period multiplier.

Bi-block hasslers can also be made into a closed loop as in four molds hassling eight blocks, but there is no known way to support longer chains and transmit a signal in regular Life.
