Is there anyone among us who can identify such a rule in the space of rules that can be defined with Hensel notation (= two-state isotropic rules with range-1 Moore neighbourhood on the square tiling)?

If growth beyond quadratic is impossible in 2D, what exact mechanism is making the count of alive and dead cells follow a curve (press the "Pop" button to get rid of the current population line)?

The reaction produces copies that form this zig-zag tiling pattern, the important thing is that each piece of the zigzag can be thought of as a moving wick(though they interact so it is technically an agar) thus the whole thing can be thought of as a sort of barber pole. The inside birth and death rates will mirror the total area of the barber pole, meaning they will mirror the total population.

By 'nontrivial,' I mean there are objects of other symmetries, and by 'high period,' I'm referring to periods exceeding 10. It should be diverse and substantial enough to warrant exploration. For instance, while rules like B/S012345678 and B3/S technically fulfill this condition, they are rather limited, primarily consisting of trivial patterns like still lifes and P2 oscillators. I'm looking for a rule with more complexity, ideally featuring at least one spaceship and several oscillators with periods exceeding 10.

I don't know examples (assuming I understand the idea of the question), but here are some non-examples. Apgsearched CA rules often have some interesting symmetric object(s) which are common in their symmetry, but either very rare or absent in C1. E.g. a p82 oscillator in b2n3s23-q/C4_1, a p37 oscillator and a p33 oscillator in b3s2-n36c/D8_4, a p62 oscillator I found in b3s234c/C4_4, and a p27 oscillator in b3s23/C4_4.

If I understand right, neither of those CA rules answers your question, precisely because they have seminatural high-period objects. Maybe an actual example would be some CA rule where every commonly occurring high-period object (including symmetric objects) just so happens to have a small seed from which it evolves, allowing it to occur in C1 early.

In addition, even if you find such a CA rule, then further exploration will likely disqualify it, as soon as a high-period seminatural oscillator is discovered.

That's a fair point, what I care about most is the high-period things matching, and I am ok if some of the low-period stuff does not match. I still do feel that finding rules with every period matching is reasonable, take a look at the rule below that sparked the question as an example.

I was talking about this rule where all 21 speeds of ship, all 4 c/2 variants, I did not save the low period oscillators, but I think the list was p1-6,8,and all 6 high periods of oscillator appear in C1

I don't know, it just looks like an explosion. 260,000 generations run so far and no sign of stabilizing.
