Probably there is a comparably simple solution for the other spark as well? Here's an engineered one, in the form of a p107879 (= 233 x 463) gun. The next two-spark collision creates an escaping glider, and second two-spark collision creates a block which is then removed by the top spark:

Nice construction! I'm still hoping that some day we'll come up with reasonably small elementary single-input 5x, 6x, and/or 7x pulse dividers. But this seems like a good line of research for an engineered 7x.

Here are a few experimental rebuilds of the mechanism, using a different "0e2" H-to-2G -- probably also nowhere near minimum size. I didn't try an NW31T120, which also produces two gliders in opposite directions but has fewer obstructing catalysts near the outputs -- might be worth a look.

Well, just kidding, this needs to be fixed, since it only works with a p82 input, but I would think it could be modified to lower the repeat time to 69, just that this weird timing that generates a glider simplifies the design by a lot (it is offseted by 1 compared to the natural glider, so it would dodge the block as required if wants to change the N-divider), but one can figure out that the Hershel hit a block by other means, and replace the block to pull again. There is a need to make that block in a timely fashion, in order to rightfully claiming this to work with low repeat time, but one would need to "buffer up" with 1 block in advance, which involve making more circuits to place the block once the previous is known to have been pulled once (or twice depending on the clearance), and manage to place it within 345 ticks or so (aka, 5x69, since we already have tremi/quad snarks). Not sure if it can be made compact, but it would work for any N-pulse divider. Anyways, food for thoughts.

I didn't look at any other H-to-2Gs, just grabbed the only H-to-2G that didn't use a first natural glider and slapped on minimal trombone slides, so no doubt there are more compact and/or lower repeat time options.

I guess maybe one place to look for particularly small engineered pulse dividers would be cases where two 90-degree outputs of an H-to-2G can be reflected to collide with each other directly, with no need for trombone-slide adjustments. Trombone slides really take up a lot of space.

... Or is a quinti-Boojum? It is 180 degrees, after all, which was what made the original wannabe Snark into a boojum reflector -- but then, the p5 quinti-Snark and its variants are also 180 degrees.

There's plenty of space between input and output lanes to add a Snark and thus de-boojify the Boojum -- 22 lanes, and if I remember right the minimum is 17.

Was this bit of research inspired by Jormungant's oscillatrificiation of confocaloid's eater2-chain period doublers (the previous two posts on this thread)?

It seems the lowest "safe" repeat time for these pulse dividers is 107, due to the glider-emitting part. The JJ-to-beehive stage would work with 72-tick interval between gliders.

I think that works safely with any glider stream guaranteeing at least 96 ticks between consecutive pulses.
One can also stop growth by a eater 1 instead of the block, which will make (8+6N) G-to-H pulse dividers, although usefulness is less certain in this case, because for even coefficients prepending a fast x2 pulse divider would make a faster device:
