The MIT group was a group of people at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Artificial Intelligence Laboratory who studied Conway's Game of Life in the early 1970s. Members of the group included Robert April, Mike Beeler, Bill Gosper, Richard Howell, Jan Kok, Rici Liknaitzky, Bill Mann, Rich Schroeppel, Michael Speciner, and Steve Ward.
