I was thinking of these sort of rules the other day, interesting to see they have been explored!
Oscillators and spaceships with periods different to, or not divisors of, the number of rules (generally two rules, so far in this thread) would be exceedingly rare, as well as still lifes, unless the transitions are quite similar.
Perhaps other combinations of alternation, instead of every other generation, would show interesting dynamics. Adding an almost identity transition every four or five generations would be unusual, say, (B3/S23)^3|B2c/S012345678.
"T-ship" quadrupling its period:
Code:
Select all
x = 3, y = 3, rule = B1e/S02-i34q5-aq|B3/S2-i34q
bo$3o$3o!
AN ALL-CAPS SPACESHIP (sorry about the pun) in a related rule (40c/324o):
Code:
Select all
x = 6, y = 28, rule = B3/S2-i34q|B1e/S02-i34q5-aj

An interesting high-period oscillator (p592), in another alternating B1e rule:
Code:
Select all
x = 39, y = 8, rule = B3-c4qt6a7/S2-i3-k4q|B1e/S02-i34q56

Gun in a B3/S23 alternator rule, firing tetromino ships that preserve a phase over two generations:
Code:
Select all
x = 7, y = 7, rule = B2i/S0123-r4-a56|B3/S23

The gun can be quadrupled in period rather trivially:
Code:
Select all
x = 174, y = 178, rule = B2i/S0123-r4-a56|B3/S23

A 7c/40d. I think alternating rules with B1e are extremely prolific with complex behaviour (not necessarily this rule in particular, which stabilises quickly, but in general).
Code:
Select all
